Atli is born and raised in Reykjavík, Iceland.
He moved to Copenhagen to follow and study his passion, Photography. During his studies in The Danish School of Photography, he worked for one of Denmarks most known studios, Ibsen&Co.
After graduation he worked on numerous different projects in Denmark, for example Volvo, Hummel, TV2 and TDC.
After a few years working in Denmark he could not resist the call from his roots anymore. Coming from a resolute place like Iceland gives you a different point of view on landscape, people and life in general. That will always be his main inspiration - broadening the horizon.
He now lives in his hometown, Reykjavík, and has taken on a lot of different commercial work. He has now taken on film directing as well.
He has severeal times been published in the Lürzer’s Archive Magazine and also in their 200 best Photographers Worldwide Selection. His creative team was awarded the Creative Circle Award and his work for a Hummel campaign has won multiple awards around the world. He was also the first runner up for the Photographer of the year in Denmark in the year 2019.
What he loves in creating images is to move the viewer and create an urge to look closer and longer.
